Remedial Massage and Soft Tissue Therapy
I first and foremost want to improve people’s health giving you better outcomes, which differs from person to person.
For some that may be a reduction in physical tension, discomfort, pain, or stress, or giving someone back their mobility and functionality. For others it will be offsetting the impacts of their medical condition and how that pervades their day to day life.
It can be improving soft tissue health to counteract daily work demands, or enhancing elite sport training programmes.
It could be expediting injury recovery to get you back to the activities you love, avoiding surgical intervention or facilitating a change through education, and dispelling fears about moving or using your body.
It can be developing a plan or way forward, providing reassurance when other avenues have been explored.
Whatever you are looking to achieve with your health, these remedial massage options offer wide ranging benefits across a broad spectrum of aims.

Approach
-
An important component of my approach is a recognition of the inter-dependency of your body’s systems, structures and functions, as well as the relationship between physical and mental health; no one part can be treated in isolation nor separate to the others. All sessions strike a balance between clinical reasoning and compassionate touch.
-
A consultation underpins the initial session which aims to:
– understand your needs and desired outcomes,
– understand your history, the impacts and your experience,
– give an opportunity to talk through any concerns,
– manage expectations around what can be reasonably achieved,
– set out a direction. -
by releasing tight muscles accumulated through: posture, habitual use, medical conditions, injuries & structural imbalances, addressing aches and calming the nervous system to downregulate pain.
-
targeting tense or inhibited structures, encouraging muscles & connective tissue to relax, stretching joints to increase range of motion, free up adhesions, stimulate tissue readiness and elasticity.
-
by working on the affected and compensating areas, approaching the body as a whole, raising awareness of the issue, talking about preventative measures, promoting self-care and ownership.

Can’t recommend her highly enough!
The therapy room is quiet and comfortable.
Mel has experience of treating fibro patients and really listens to what you hope to get from the session and goes as firm or gentle pressure as you want.
Before the session she emailed me a comprehensive form to complete so she knew about my medical conditions, history, hopes to get out of the session etc.. She also called me to go through everything beforehand.
Immediately after the session, my Pain levels had gone from about 8/10 to 2/10 for my back and I felt more mobility there like 'magic'. I really couldn't believe it.
My shoulder which had been making me cry with pain levels off the scale had even gone to about a 4/10. The migraines I had been having for days on end have stopped (just get the odd niggly headache now as usual).
My body understandably felt sore after the session for about 3 days but not the pain I had. It's been 11 days now and I am still feeling the benefits but without the soreness.
I had expected the session to be a bit 'brutal', similar to the true Indian massages I have had but not at all. She starts by working away from the really painful areas to soothe your body so the worst areas don't react.
The morning before my treatment, my carer could barely touch my hips and lower back area without me 'jumping' away from the lightest touch yelping in pain. My only reaction when Mel got to the worst part was an "oooh" which soon turned into an "aah, that feels good".
Even whilst she was working on my shoulder, I could feel the pain easing, working up into my head, my headache lifted and the tingling in my left hand lifted and hasn't returned, likewise the shooting pains down my leg - all coming from my shoulder.
My shoulder will need more work and I will definitely be asking Mel back.
She has a studio in Wokingham Town centre but will also visit homes (well worth the £5 extra for me against the taxi fares). Also perfect because there are some steps up to the studio. She brings her own massage table which she thoroughly sanitises before leaving. You just need to provide your own towel as a cover up.
Mel is a lovely lady and extremely easy to get on with. The sort of person you feel you have known forever.
I was in so much pain I felt I had nothing to lose by trying the deep tissue massage. It's the first one I've had and I'm so pleased I did.
I have even recommended Mel to my Fibromyalgia club and friends.
I didn't expect this review to be so long but it hopefully let's you know why I recommend Mel so much.
She is very friendly, professional and nice soothing music playing.
Have tried lots of massage places over the years. Had to leave this review as this is the best. The neck work was amasing and round my base of head. Never had that before.
Area is all clean and sanitised, and mask wearing all as stated in Mels website. Thank you ,had a really nice sleep after long time. 😊 Highly recommend give Mel a try, you won't regret it. When I need a massage will be back again.
I would highly recommend using Mel for your sports massage
Mel is easy to talk to and I felt at ease when preparing for my massage.
I’ve had a lot of massages and I can honestly say Mel has been the best, I can handle pressure and it was just what I was looking for. Another massage booked in for next month and I cannot wait

Why did Eudaimonia get started?
For anyone who has ever wondered what motivates people to start their own business and in response to the many times I have been asked this question over the years, it felt fitting to revisit the origins of Eudaimonia having hit the 10 year milestone of being in business this week.
New in Crewkerne
In March, we relocated from Wokingham in Berkshire to here in Crewkerne, Somerset. Personally, this move gave my husband and I the opportunity to enjoy a period property with outdoor space, be close to the countryside, market town life, the coast, and be a part of a community.
